I have several athiest friends who have given me their reasons for not believing in God. I would like to hear from some of you. Why do you believe in God?
I believe in God because I don't think we, this earth, or anything on this earth happened by accident or by a few cells bumping together. When Alma was talking with Korihor in the Book of Mormon, Korihor says that he does not believe in God. Alma testifies to him that there is a God and also Christ. Alma tells Korihor that he (Alma) has "all things as a testimony". Look around the world today. It is so beautiful - it did not happen by accident. The human body is amazing. It is not an accident either, but an inteligent design in part of a great plan. I don't understand how it is easier to say the world and man were created by accident or by cells or atoms bumping together, than saying they were part of an intelliegent design. Also, no one can truly read and study the Bible without knowing that there is a God, and there is a Christ, because they truly testify of both.
Initially it was because the evidence was compelling, now it is that evidence along with how He has transformed my life…
For me it was/is about truth, if the existence of God is true then I am compelled to receive that truth. This is one of the reasons that so many people like to pretend there is no absolute truth, it camouflages their sinful pride…
I believe in God because I have had too many experiences where His love has been shown to me in simple and complex ways. These experiences are so hard to put into words, which may be why others can so easily discount them. He is there if we look for him.
I believe in God because I see His works in the universe and His works in my life. I have had too many personal experiences to not believe. Once you receive your individual testimony, it doesn't matter what anyone else says or believes, because you KNOW.
I believe in God because He is my Father and the Creator. Now, atheists would ask how do I know that He is my Father and the Creator; and my answer is simple: I know because I am here; I exist. I do not need further proof of His existence other than me, you, your guests, the whole of humanity. We were made to His image.
I believe in God cause His name, His essence came with me the minute I stepped into this world for the first time; I didn't have to read about Him to believe in Him.

Good question…
Short answer…

D,
I believe in God because He is my Father and the Creator.
